Surveys indicate 75% of us interpret change to mean loss. This is probably why there is a tendency to resist change. The reality is, that without change, there is no progress. For example, regarding our relationship with God: the good news is that God loves us just the way we are. The better news is that He loves us too much to leave us the way we are. The process of becoming more Christ-like requires that we make changes.
Restoration Fellowship is now one year old. God is blessing us richly, and we thank and praise him. We have been blessed by the excellent pastoral leadership of pastors Darrel, Jon, Charles, and Jay. Some of you have returned to your summer homes, Pastor Charles has retired, I have become lead pastor, and Pastor Jay will be our guest preacher the next two Sundays. These are real changes, which affect all of us.
Personally, I like adventure, so I tend to get excited about new things, while others might become nervous, fearful, resistant, or cautiously adopt a “wait and see” attitude. We are all wired differently, however, we can all be confident that God’s plans are always for our good (Jer. 29:11) and that Romans 8:28 is as true now as the day it was written: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (NIV)
I am grateful to be part of the pastoral team leading RFC!
